Over the objections of scores of residents of Winder’s downtown historic neighborhoods, the Winder City Council on Tuesday night approved two commercial rezonings. The most controversial vote was to approve a conditional use request for a drive-through window and lane for a new Hardee’s restaurant that will open on vacant property at the corner of Broad and Stephens streets. First Baptist Church of Winder, Inc. owns the site. Speakers said the addition of a busy fast-food restaurant at that congested corner would bring too much traffic to the intersection and also would lead to the degradation of the historic area.

NO LOUD Orange Buliding, one with Stone work and more fitting for the nieghborhood, DEMAND that the CITY who approved it, hold it to a fitting standard for our Historic Downtown...
I would Demand they build a suitable building conforming with the historic district. Call your City Leaders NOW before it is done, we need to enforce standards on the business AND our leaders.
The Auburn store failed for mainly for extremely poor location at the time, it was like an outpost everyone forgot about... This is Hardees 2nd Downtown Winder attempt (Prior was Broad & Lee St), they built the Auburn store after the that failed effort.
Sounds like you just wanted to critize those who DO CARE, since you appear to NOT care, why did you waste the time it took to type that?
If it will get done, IF it will get Improved, it will take many of us who care and IT CAN BE DONE.
Once again I say bravo to anyone wanting to start a business here.
Maybe if downtown was redeveloped, we could attract businesses here.
