The Winder City Council on Aug. 7 will vote on four land-use requests, including one for a new Hardeeās Restaurant to be built on a vacant lot at 113 N. Broad St. currently owned by First Baptist Church of Winder Inc. The church and the applicant, Smart Growth Resources LLC, have requested a conditional use permit for a drive-through window and lane for the new restaurant.
Across the street, owners William Bramlett Jr. and Vicky Bramlett are asking the council to rezone from residential to neighborhood commercial three parcels that are being combined into a single tract of about three-fourths of an acre. The properties are at 118 North Broad St., 122 North Broad St. and 10 W. Kimball St.

Vacant lots aren't doing Winder any good, and investors aren't exactly lining up to build there.
That could change if Hardee's builds a successful restaurant there. You saw what happened at Barrow Crossing. Even a company that backed out initially (Michael's) decided to give it another look.
Investors are still in shock after 2008. Recovery is a thousand small but successful investments convincing people to move money from the bank to the economy.
Including, BTW, two Hardees in Barrow county.
One in Auburn. One in Winder.
Please go back to wikipedia and find more wisdom.
Since that, apparanently, is your your source for the sum total of your knowledge.
You want to boost a loser like Hardees since you are so put out with Chik fil-a.
Does anyone on the city council have a definite vision for how our downtown area should look or are they satisfied to have a hodge-podge unsightly storefronts & fast-food restaurants?
