City of Statham officials unanimously approved a new juvenile curfew, which is set to go into effect July 20, 10 days after it was voted on.
The model for Statham’s curfew was patterned after the one used by the City of Winder. The Winder curfew was approved in May. The curfew is designed for those 16 years old and younger for the hours of midnight until 6 a.m.
The ordinance states, it shall be “unlawful for any minor to loiter, wander or play in or upon the public places, establishments or vacant property in the City unsupervised by a parent, guardian or through prescribed authority and having the lawful authority to be in such places, between the hours of 12 a.m. and 6 a.m.”
