For the first half of 2012, Braselton has issued more than twice as many new residential building permits than the first six months of last year, according to administrative reports from the town.
From January until June, the Braselton Planning and Development Department has approved 37 building permits this year for new residences across the town’s four counties. For the first six months of 2011, Braselton issued a total of 18 new residential building permits.
Last month, Braselton issued seven new residential building permits with five of those in Hall County and one each in Barrow and Gwinnett counties. In May, the town approved a total of nine building permits for new residences. Four of those were issued in Hall County, followed by three in Jackson County and two in Barrow County.
In addition, the town issued a commercial building permit in June for a package store located off Ga. Hwy. 211 in Barrow County. The Liberty Village Package Store will total almost 11,300 square feet.
Since May, Braselton issued permanent sign permits for Anderson Physical Therapy, Remax, Express Employment and Braselton Pain Management.
In addition, the town is reviewing development plans for a proposed RaceTrac on Ga. 53, next to Cracker Barrel. The company also plans to open a gas station and store at the intersection of Ga. Hwy. 211 and Ga. Hwy. 124 in Barrow County.
