A new assistant principal will takeover curriculum and instruction when the school year starts at Winder-Barrow High School. The Barrow County Schools’ Board of Education hired Mill Creek High School educator Jennifer E. Martin following a closed meeting to discuss personnel on Tuesday night. At WBHS, Martin will be the assistant principal of teaching and learning, which will involve overseeing curriculum for all core areas. Martin replaces Jean McIntosh, who resigned to take a post in Morgan County.
In other BOE news, the board delayed final passage of the school system’s 2013 budget at its regular meeting on Tuesday, pending a revised legal advertisement that will have the correct date of the vote. An earlier snafu created the delay, although it has no practical impact on the system's spending.

We need to bring the focus back to education, not what ever they can to keep kids entertained so they can get their numbers to report back to the state. We need to stop teaching for the test and teach for their future so they can survive!
