Bethlehem wants an elementary school back in its city limits. The town council, led by Mayor Sandy McNab, formally asked the Barrow Board of Education to support its annexation of Bethlehem Elementary School in a letter delivered to board members and Superintendent Wanda Creel. “The Town of Bethlehem has had a school for more than 125 years,” explained the letter, which McNab and the council signed. “We are Partners in Education with the new Bethlehem Elementary and strive to support the school which bears the town’s name.” The school, located at 47 McElhannon Road SW off, was built in 2003 and sits adjacent to the city limits because of another recent acquisition. Last year, the council approved the annexation of about 58 acres owned by Clay and Joyce McDaniel.
