The first of three Barrow County Republican Party forums for candidates in the party’s contested July 31 primaries is tonight at 7 at the Colleen O. Williams Theater in the Winder Cultural Arts Center.
Candidates tonight will include 10th U.S. District Rep. Paul Broun and those in the races for Georgia House District 114, Georgia Senate District 47, District 2 and District 3 of the Barrow County Board of Commissioners, the At-Large District 8 of the Barrow County Board of Education, and Chief Magistrate.
The GOP's second forum will be at 7 p.m. Monday, July 9, at Bramlett Elementary School near Auburn. The third will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 19, in the auditorium of Statham Elementary School.
Incumbent Republican sheriff Jud Smith and former Braselton mayor Patricia Graham, who is running unopposed for BOC chairman, also will participate in all three GOP forums.
The Barrow County Democratic Party has not scheduled any forums prior to the July 31 primaries, since it has no contested primary races, but candidates from both parties are being invited to participate in an upcoming meet-the-candidates event by the local office of the Georgia Farm Bureau.
Chuck Steele, chairman of the bureau's legislative committee, said the event will start at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at the Winder Community Center. Each candidate will have three minutes to speak. The moderator will be from outside the county.
All candidate forums, regardless of sponsor, are free and open to the public.
Did either of you see the Republican party banner behind you?
The second credo of the party is "Less Government Involvement"...
"Got to get everyone in line... all the way to the Judge" Worley
"Got to keep those businesses in there place..." Vickery
You just gave the County Attorney $200,000.00 on a short fall budget...
Just who are you going to run off at the County's expense?
Then do the same to the democrats, then the bankers and laweyrs next.
Time to take back the country from the nefarious scum that claim to have the best interest of the people at heart.
Power belongs to the people.

The fall of the Roman empire was proceeded by the fact that the mob learned it did not have to work for a living...
It just had to vote for more money from the government.
Just in kind, we have professional government bureaucrats running the county government. While, they may not be writing their own pay checks yet... They are serving their own interest first before the county's.
They are running as Republicans because this is a one party town.
What does it say about the Party when it controls all the candidates for office, yet does not stand up for its basic principals.
The measure of a man is in his actions not his words...
So, to the county's Republican party.
