Having just one item on its agenda, the Hoschton City Council listened to a political candidate during its brief meeting on Monday night.
Danny Yearwood — one of three candidates vying for the State Senate District 47 seat — introduced himself to the Hoschton City Council. He briefly spoke to council members and shook their hands.
Yearwood is currently the chairman of the Barrow County Board of Commissioners, but didn’t seek another term and instead qualified last week to run for the state senate. He faces incumbent Frank Ginn, a Republican, and Democrat Tim Riley in the race.
District 47 in the State Senate serves all of Barrow and Madison counties, and portions of Jackson and Clarke counties.
Yearwood encouraged Hoschton council members to call him to get his opinion on any issue.
“Don’t believe everything you read about me,” Yearwood joked with the Hoschton City Council. “I’d prefer that you talk to me.”
Former Braselton Mayor Pat Graham will be the next chairman of the Barrow County BOC, as she was the only person to qualify for the seat last week.
Along with Yearwood, Hoschton resident Kelley Gary attended Monday’s council meeting. He — like Graham — was also once a candidate for the State Senate District 47 election in 2008.
“I’m not running for anything,” joked Gary, who is chairman of the Jackson County Republican Party.
The Hoschton City Council had only one item on its agenda — approval of the meeting minutes from May 7, when the council voted to deny a change in zoning conditions to allow a development on Ga. Hwy. 53 with senior rental housing units.
Ever wonder why his supporters sound like wiped sister wives making excuses for his abusive behavior?
Rule 7.6 states that County Chairmen may not use their official title in connection with their support of any candidate in a Republican Primary. With that exception officers in the Republican Party are free to support any Republican candidate they wish.
I have spent considerable time talking with the two candidates in this race over a number of years. Based on my knowledge of the candidates and my preference for limited government with lower taxes and less spending I do have a strong preference for one candidate in this race.
I'll be glad to elaborate on that if you wish me to do so.
Danny has to find a way to make himself look like the person wants us to think he is...
Not the person we know he is...
