The Barrow County Board of Commissioners approved a narrow-banding radio contract Thursday with Motorola at a cost of $4.059 million. Mike McGannon, Engineering Systems Inc., presented a brief presentation on the procedures that had taken place in order for the county to get to the point of the contract. McGannon said request for proposals (RFPs) were submitted and three proposals were received – Motorola, Tait and Relm. McGannon said after reviewing all three Motorola came out on top because the firm has a better coverage area and it has a number of service sites in Georgia. The county previously borrowed $4 million for this project.
