Ginn ‘disappointed’ in Yearwood run

Danny Yearwood’s 11th-hour decision last week not to seek re-election as chairman of the Barrow County Board of Commissioners — but instead to try to knock Republican Sen. Frank Ginn out of his seat in the Georgia Senate — gave pause to many in local and state political circles. It was especially surprising to Ginn, who is wrapping up his first term in the District 47 seat and was out of the country when Yearwood drove to the state capital Friday morning to qualify in the race for his seat.

Ginn said he was disappointed.

“I was hoping to run unopposed,” he said.

Yearwood said this week that he doesn’t have anything against Ginn, but the two are very different.

“I think Frank is a totally different person than I am,” Yearwood said. “He’s always been employed by the government. The conservative side of me has always been from a business standpoint. I think that’s what our government needs to be today — run like a business.”

Yearwood got in on a a vote against Corruption not for him.

I guess Yearwood is going to re-tread that "Stop Wasteful spending speech and signage one more time"

After all, he did manage to kind a ... sort a balance the budget by ignoring Federal mandates narrow ban communication systems and gutted fire / EMS service for the county.

Thank GOD, he couldn't strip down the sheriff's office...

Just imagine the county with all those criminal types run loose...

Why, It would look just like a BOC meeting.

Why just imagine what Yearwood could do to the state.

Drive off small business

Be in the Regional ... Maybe National press for fighting

Create such a hostile environment, that major businesses will stay away from Georgia... Just like Toyota and Caterpillar stayed clear of Barrow.

If I'm not mistaken, Ginn worked for Jackson EMC, so I think Mr. Yearwood is not totally correct there.

Ginn did work at Jackson EMC... for about 5 minutes. And he lied about his position at JEMC when he first ran for office. He wasn't director of anything. Of course he lied about a lot more than his job title and the chickens are coming home to roost this time.

No one claimed that because he worked for Jackson EMC he is a fiscal conservative. But it probably does mean he hasn't always worked for the government. If that's true, 'joe' was correct in his statement about Yearwood not being totally correct. Careful with those Fred Sanford quotes... you don't want to use powerful stuff like that at the wrong time. They'll begin to lose thier effectiveness.

Danny Yearwood believes in the principles upon which our nation was founded. I would be disappointed if he didn't have conflict with people who are doling out favors with other people's money. Instead he balanced budgets in extremely difficult circumstances and looked at every question in terms of what is good for Barrow County citizens - you know - those people government is supposed to serve...

Not sure exactly what Mr. Yearwood is thinking at this point. I get the fact that he figured out he would not beat Graham to retain the BOC Chairman's seat, but is he really thinking he can beat Ginn with the negative record he has compiled here in Barrow over the last 4 years? Should be interesting to see events unfold......

Danny made tough decisions while cutting the budget. Clearly this has made a lot of people upset at him.In the times I have encountered him ,He is a very friendly likeable guy.
He was not part of the good old boys club that ran the town for years.He did what he had to do and wasn't afraid to upset some people. He will get my vote for senate.

he can hold his head up high and say he ran a "fair" campaign and lost.

If he ran against Graham, he would have lost.

If he didn't run against Graham, he would be considered "scared" of losing to her.

He couldn't run against England because England is from Barrow.

So that left Ginn.

I find it laughable that Ginn is "dissapointed". The freedom we have to run for political office along with the election process is what makes this nation great. Yet this newspaper goes on a mission to get a comment from Ginn on his thoughts about Yearwood running against him? Tim Riley is also running and I don't see any mention of him or Ginns thoughts on him. Interesting. The Journal should thank Danny Yearwood hes given them fodder for several years to sell newspapers. And actually hes done a good job considering. Good Luck Danny. I'll vote for you . At least you are not a whiner who is "dissappointed" hes not running unopposed.

This statement is so funny he couldn't even run a used carslot and a one term chairman of a small county. So how is expect to run a senate position.

Typical Danny supporter, clouding the issue whenever you can...

The article at hand covered both the two long standing State Licensed Home Heath Care operations shutdown by the county. They took the case to court and won. The court told the county to reverse the illegal denial

It also covered the Illegal Operation taking advantage of the handicapped. That operation was found by the sheriff's office and shut down.

Yearwood was upset because the court told him he could not use the county's resources to bully a long standing State licensed small business. If he is suppose to be a businessman, WHY is he so quick to use the county's resources to dump more regulation on another small business?

Really, what's the difference between a Federal or a County regulation burden on small business other then its source?

For that fact, what's the difference between Danny and Obama other then skin color?

Both are real quick to make more laws / regulations to burden business. Danny's term has been defined as increased regulation / arbitrary rulings that strangulate rather then encourage commerce.
