Former HR Director's house catches fire

A Pierce Road home belonging to former Barrow County Human Resources Director Norma Jean Brown and her family caught fire Monday afternoon.

Fire investigators were just beginning to look for the cause of the flames at approximately 4 p.m., Barrow County Emergency Services Public Information Officer Lt. Scott Dakin said.

Dakin said by phone he estimated the damage to the two-story home is “a total loss.”

No one was home at the time of the fire.

Firefighters located one cat and it was alive. Two of the family dogs were still missing Monday afternoon.
