For the second time in three years, a Winder-Barrow High School teacher has been named the Barrow County Teacher of the Year.
This year’s title goes to Brandon Mitchell, a 29-year-old science teacher known for creatively engaging his students in the subjects of environmental and physical science by demonstrating attention-getting applications both inside and outside the classroom.
“They don’t realize how much they’re learning in all they’re doing,” he said after the surprise announcement in the high school’s cafeteria Tuesday morning.
“My goal is to make it exciting for me and for me not to get bored with it. If I’m not bored with it, and it’s exciting to me, I know it’s going to be much more exciting to them.”
