GBI arrests Auburn man for downloading child porn

Thomas Carey Wakeman is facing one felony count and is incarcerated in the Gwinnett County Detention Center.

According to a press release, the arrest took place after the GBI’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Gwinnett County Police Department searched Wakeman’s home computer on April 12.

The search warrant was obtained after "cybertips" from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children indicated someone was uploading “numerous images of suspected child pornography and child erotica to and/or from a Photobucket account.”

Investigators traced the Internet Protocol address associated with the downloads to Wakeman’s address in Auburn.

“During the on-site forensic preview of the computer, multiple files of suspected child pornography were located,” the press release states.

The ICAC task force is comprised of 150 Georgia law enforcement agencies. There have been 809 arrests in the state by the task force since it was established in 2002.
