As the candidate-qualifying period for the 2012 elections approaches, the meetings of the Barrow County Board of Commissioners are taking on a markedly low-key tone. Tuesday night’s meeting was short — there were only five action items on the agenda — and sweet — with all five votes unanimous.

The qualifying period for the county’s 2012 elections is in late May. Wilburn is the only sitting member of the board to officially announce that he will not run. Commissioner Steve Worley does plan to run while neither Yearwood nor Commissioner Eva Elder has made an announcement.

It is time for some new ideas. These will only come from new people. Just look at how well the city of Winder is without Chip in seat. Yearwood is out, just because he just walks out when things get heated and thats not how an elected official is supposed to run things. As far as the others, they are all Multiple-Term Commissioners. It is time for fresh ideas on how to help the county and not just "be known" as on the board.
Time to give someone else a chance.

Vote'm out. All incumbents must go. All the way from the Prez down to the local dog catcher. Time for new blood and fresh ideas. This group had their chance and they failed.

Steve Worley does not need to run again. He must be going to work hard on getting his family and his family's friends to vote for him again. Just like his brother Bob Worley.
