Winder police chief Dennis Dorsey presented to the Winder City Council on Tuesday night an officer whose leadership has helped cut nearly in half the number of traffic accidents and injuries in the city. Dorsey said Officer Brent Davis has done such a good job, in fact, that the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety could not justify another $20,000 grant for Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic.
“The year we started the H.E.A.T. program, we had 826 traffic accidents with 170 injuries,” Dorsey said. “Last year, we had 445 accidents and 101 injuries.”
Every year of the city’s participation in the grant program since 2007, its accidents and injuries went down, he said.
For more city coverage, read the April 4 issue of the Barrow Journal.
save lives there is no facts to support that traffic ticket writing saves lives, and I do like the GSP, why because they do also enforce the law and in most cases use reason and not ticket and tow everyone they can, they also seem less involved in searching for drugs and more with helping people rather then when car instranded showing up and first question being license and insurance, where as GSP askes do you need help and can we get you to safe location, Winder call tow servce even if you not in traffic and ready to impound your ride make that money by hook or crook!!!
People: if you drive within the law, no blue lights!
I'm glad to know that he doesn't discriminate--family or no family!
Trying to prove a point: read the article lady.....point proven.
Finally: again read the article lady--the state is cutting the 20k to the wpd, not giving it to anybody else in the department. However, i do agree with you in that Rachel and Tracey are great officers but if they had Brent's duties, you would have a problem with them too!
Very True. Most days they don't even have 4 per shift unless tou count Dorsey and Rob (LOL)
and officers are quitting due to the poor leadership or NO leadership !!!!!!
Why do you think no one likes the GSP cause all they do is write tickets. That is there JOB. Just there presence on the road reduces your speed cause you are playing on Facebook flying down the road and you see them you hit the breaks. They don't even have to flip there lights on to get you to reduce your speed to the speed that you are suppose to go.
All this hate for law enforcement officers has got to end. Maybe they should just quit coming to work and see what happens.
How about when CSX decided to shut down the railroad and no one knew how to drive with out the officers out there directing traffic and trying to reduce some of the traffic we probably would still be out there.
Follow the law and stop staring at the cars pulled over. You'll notice a lot less and be much happier. Besides if you read the article, the Chief recognized him due to the state cutting its funding. Since money will have to be reallocated (possibly), it is the chief's responsibility to bring this to the council's attention.
Every year of the city’s participation in the grant program since 2007, its accidents and injuries went down, he said.
Dorsey, You should be ashamed !!!!!!!!
The reason that the accidents continue to fall is due to all the hard work that all your officers do, not just because of Brent Davis. Have you ever thought of why all your employees have such a bad attitude. Maybe it's the poor leadership that you provide.
Also, Maybe the Barrow Journal should look at Davis's personnel file and get the low down on the real Brent Davis !!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe the new Mayor should look into the situation and find out what kind of department you are really running.
Come on Dorsey, Grow Some and start doing your job !!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess he is just not trained in operating on the roadways in a safe manner
