In a surprising move, the Barack Obama campaign has decided to open an office in predominantly Republican Barrow County.
The Winder office is one of eleven regional offices within the state. In addition to the Winder office, Obama campaign operatives will be courting voters from locations in Athens, Gainesville, Albany, Cumming, Decatur, Jonesboro, Valdosta, Columbus and two locations in Atlanta.
Campaign spokeswoman Carolyn Adelmann said that even traditionally Republican areas may have voters attracted to Obama’s “Campaign for Change.”
“Barack Obama does appeal to all kinds of people,” she said. “We are going to reach out to everyone.”
The Winder office is located at 144 East Midland Avenue. Obama supporters can visit the office to learn how to become involved and to get additional information about the campaign.
“It’s just an extension of our headquarters here in Atlanta,” Adelmann said. “Anything they can do here, they can do [in Winder].”
The Winder office is staffed by paid campaign workers and volunteers.
“We have tons of volunteers that are getting involved in that office and the other offices in the area,” Adelmann added.
“I encourage people to please come in and learn more about our campaign,” she said.
The Winder office of the Obama campaign can be reached at 1-706-313-3741. Information is also available online at http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/gahome.
political platform.
This is a clear wake-up call to all Republican voters to get behind John McCain now, and let Mr. Obama know this is McCain country, and we have absolutely no use for him or his left wing message of change without substance. Let's stop this now. It will take everyone's participation to give John McCain victory in November.
I call on all Republican concerned citizens groups, and websites/Blog sites, to mobilize and support John McCain for President of the United States of America. If we all work together, McCain will win in November!
Respectfully submitted,

This is indeed an historic day. I never thought I'd say this, but great post DuWayne!
(I feel a little dirty, but...he's right!)
I wanted to say thank you for the comment you posted. I have a strong and honest belief that John McCain is the right man, in the right place, at the right time, to be President of the United States. I hope we can count on your support, and those of your peers in November.
Sincerely,

America's problems are moral. Period. And paying for that immoral lifestyle is part of the Democrat's agenda, and out of my pocket, too.
Only if we get back to God, and PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, will America be great.
1. You think the immorality of Clinton WHILE IN OFFICE was a PERSONAL issue? Yes, folks, character does matter!
2. I don't know where you get your news but it is obviously prejudiced, which is the reason that I do not watch it. Do you think you can believe what the media spoon-feeds you?
3. Not sure what you mean about the first and fourth amendments...I still have all my rights...as all law-abiding citizens do.
4. "the average person suffering beyond comprehension"?? WHAT are you talking about? yeah, we're really suffering, with our 75-inch hi-def TV's, bus-sized SUV's, McMansions (that people could not afford, but bought anyway!), etc., etc. Speaking of mansions, why should the government bail me out of my mortgage if I'm stupid enough to buy a house I cannot afford? But, that money now has to come out of my pocket, too. Thanks, Dems!
5. You might try noticing that I never said I was "for McCain". But, he is certainly the lesser of two evils.
6. I never heard anybody say that Republicans were godly people. Many Republicans are conservatives, and that may be where the confusion is. If you had been interested in a godly candidate, you would have voted for Huckabee.
Regardless, no one will ever make the mistake of saying that Democrats are godly people. You can't go around killing babies and at the same time, acknowledging that God exists and that He will judge.
I don't know what a "new type of Republican" is. But, I do know that most people, no matter how they classify themselves, do not know God OR His Word. This is evidenced by reading the newspaper every day.
So, I will repeat what I have already said: America's problems are moral. Period.
This country is "going to hell in a handbasket" very quickly. The reasons are immorality (thanks Hollywood!) and lack of personal responsibility.

It doesn't take a brain surgeon to see the lifestyle that the democrats promote. Mr. Obama, what are your plans to end "lifetime government subsidy"?
This has now become the official answer Mr. Obama uses, when forced to confront his views on abortion, to attempt to cover any possible appearance of flip-flopping on his political platform. He gave this answer in front of a live audience to Rick Warren, during the Saddleback Church forum event. Yet, Mr. Obama claims to be a Christian, and believes in the Bible. Mr. Obama, you can't have it both ways just because you want to be President.
The fact of the matter is, that Mr. Obama is scared to death to take a stand on this issue for fear of losing many of his supporters. No matter which way he answers, he will lose votes. If Mr. Obama refuses to answer this basic question for the American people, what other difficult questions will he duck by giving this answer? The economy, freedom of the press,(conservative talk radio, television, cable, internet), drilling for new oil, negotiating with terrorist state leaders, taxes, welfare reform, gun rights?
Mr. Obama be a man, and at least stand up and take credit for what you believe in. The American people deserve at least that much, if you expect them to take you seriously. If not, I am afraid the only legacy you will leave behind is this:
Mr. Obama.s view on being President of the United States:
ABOVE MY PAY GRADE..............

I'm not saying to vote for Obama, certainly, but at least be consistent, objective, and above all HONEST, when you are going to get into character.
You will remember that I never said I was "for" McCain, so you have no right to say that I am being inconsistent in my statements.
We don't need to "stay the course" in this war, just like we didn't need to "stay the course" in VM
My ONLY child has been sent twice and by the grace of god has come home unharmed. IF WE STAY THE COURSE -- HE GOES BACK A THIRD TIME.
Selfish or not -- I'm voting for the candidate I feel with end the war and turn the economy around
Next, I want to honor your child, by thanking him/her for their service to The United States of America in Iraq. Having a child away from home for that long has to be difficult at best.
I would like to point out however, that unless he/she was drafted, he/she went willingly to serve our country, and knew the dangers and the fact that they might not come home from the conflict. This is the attitude of a true patriot. You are not the only Mom who wants her child back from war, or not to have him/her to go back again. Your comments that you openly admit are selfish, fly in the face of the brave men and women who have given their lives, to protect and defend the United States of America, so that even a left-wing Democrat such as yourself can have the right to say the things you have said. They paid and pay the price for your freedom and mine day in and day out. I would appreciate you showing a little more respect for their service to our country. It's the least you can do to honor their service.
Finally, I want you to give me the specific economic plan that Mr.Obama will put in place all by himself, to turn our economy around. I would like to remind you that NO President can implement a political agenda by himself. That includes Mr. Obama. That's why we have a legislative branch of government. It's called checks and balances. After the Obama kool-aid wears off, you might want to read up on it.
Finally, please check that "Republican Card" you claim to be carrying..... I think you will find that it has self-destructed.

For the Obama Mama...God is spelled with a capital "G", as in "God bless our troops"!
Finally, thank you to this online newspaper for your excellent coverage of our area.
The fact that he wants to take away tax incentives for businesses shipping jobs off shore (IE... sending jobs to India, China, and other third world countries)should be what people focus on.
Check Walmart, Kmart, or any retail store and see just how many "made in the US" tags you find. If you come up with 5 you're doing good.
I want to see the females of this country go back thousands of years and walk two steps behind a man and wear a burka.
I sure won't go down without a fight for this country and am so tired of those liberals that *want to talk our way out of conflicts* There are just some conflicts you cannot talk your way out of no matter what.
I have a child that has been to Iraq three times. He's come back once with a purple heart. I believe in what we fight for and if McCain wants *Eye Candy* for a VP then so be it because she sure beats Biden's and Obamas experience.
Separation of Church and State orginated from the Articles of Confederation.
Might I also remind all of you that we have always fought for Religion and Money. History does not change just because we are technically advanced. It only changes the way we fight.
However, the new law did not preempt the former law in the cases of those born between the above listed dates when the old law was in effect.
Therefore, Senator Obama may very well be disqualified as the Democratic candidate in the upcoming Presidential campaign.
Presidential office requires the person elected to be a natural-born United States citizen if the child was not born to two US citizen parents.
US Law very clearly stipulates: “If only one parent was a US citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16.”
Barack Obama’s father was not a US citizen, and Obama’s mother was only 18 when he was born, which means although she had been a US citizen for 10 years, his mother fails the test for being so for at least 5 years prior to Barack Obama’s birth.
In order for her child to have been a natural-born US citizen, his mother would have had to be 21 at the time of his birth.
In essence, Mrs. Obama was not old enough to qualify her son for automatic US citizenship.
His mother would have needed to have been 16+5 = 21 years old at the time of Barack Obama’s birth for him to have been a natural-born citizen.
Barack Obama instead should have been naturalized, but even then, that would still disqualify him from holding the office of President under current law.
At best, Barack Obama is only a naturalized US citizen.
This is an issue that must be clarified before the election.
This country was founded by Christians where the separation was intended to keep the goverment out the church (AKA The Church of England). However the church has much right to voice an opinion has any other organization like the Democratic National Committee or the Republican National Committee. How much freedom do we have to give up before we wake up and realize that this country is going backwards
Please admit the truth of history, not the politically-correct version.
And, BTW, atheists and deists have nothing in common. Deists believe there is one true God (although they deny the Scriptures); atheists believe that no such God exists.
Intelligent people do not claim to be deists --imagine the foolishness of saying, "Yes, God exists, but He's not smart, or powerful, enough to be able to reveal Himself to humans in any way He chooses". The founders of this country were not dumber than we are today.
As for the beliefs of the founding fathers: http://www.archives.gov/nhprc/annotation/march-2002/religion-founding-fathers.html
Of course, this line of discussion misses the point. If they were Christian, that just drives home the significance of Christians forbidding government and religion from intermingling in the founding document of their country.
I just love the press pictures of her legs and shoes. GEE -- haven't seen them taking those kinds of pictures of men.
There were other women who have FAR MORE experience than Palin.
I would also like to point out, that there is a big difference between comparing the inexperience of Obama who is running to BE the President, and John McCain who IS ready to be President, and his running mate, who has been the Governor of Alaska for the last 2 years and has been responsible for a state budget, etc.
Also, I would like to point out, that your "EYE CANDY" remark was a cheap political shot, that I doubt your candidate Mr. Obama or Mr. Biden, or the Democratic Party would have approved of.
The fact that Mother Nature has been a little kinder to her than some, does not disqualify her from being the next Vice-President of the United States of America. I also believe you would not have the guts to call her "EYE CANDY" to her face.... but I could be wrong......
Until next time......

I really can't believe you actually believe she could lead this country. She can't even run her own family -- need I remind you -- her daughter is 17, pregnant, unmarried, and I'd be willing to bet she didn't become "engaged" until mommy decided to try for VP.
As for the "Wielding a stiletto and a smile" headline you reference, that simply proves my point about the left-wing media coverage of Republican candidates. Sarah, basically put Mr. Obama to shame last night at the convention, wrapped him up in a nice box, put a donkey ribbon on it, and handed him back to Mr. Biden for further consultation as to how they were going to put out the flames on Obama's political platform after her speech was done.
To attempt to disparage her ability to run her own family because of the pregnancy issue with her daughter pre-supposes two things: 1. That her husband is not the head of that household, and 2. She somehow has the ability to monitor her daughter 24/7 with no mistakes! I know of no parent that has that ability. NO ONE! The best we can do is raise them to the best of our ability, hope they make good choices, and stand by them when they don't. Any decent mother or parent should do that for their child. Everyone at that convention new the situation. I saw no lack of support visible or otherwise. In fact when it came time for the family to stand up, they received a standing ovation, the likes of which I have not seen in 20 years!! As far as the being engaged part, no one knows the answer to that except God and the family. Finally, call Sarah, and tell her how much you are personally willing to bet that her daughter had no intention of marrying the father, until mom became the VP choice. Sarah has more guts than Obama and Biden and their families combined.

I am having Sarah Palin nightmares. I dreamed last night that she was a member of a club where they rode snowmobiles and wore the claws of drowned and starved polar bears around their necks. I have a particular thing for Polar Bears. Maybe it's their snowy whiteness or their bigness or the fact that they live in the arctic or that I have never seen one in person or touched one. Maybe it is the fact that they live so comfortably on ice. Whatever it is, I need the polar bears.
I don't like raging at women. I am a Feminist and have spent my life trying to build community, help empower women and stop violence against them. It is hard to write about Sarah Palin. This is why the Sarah Palin choice was all the more insidious and cynical. The people
who made this choice count on the goodness and solidarity of Feminists.
But everything Sarah Palin believes in and practices is antithetical to Feminism which for me is part of one story -- connected to saving the earth, ending racism, empowering women, giving young girls options, opening our minds, deepening tolerance, and ending violence and war.
I believe that the McCain/Palin ticket is one of the most dangerous choices of my lifetime, and should this country chose those candidates the fall-out may be so great, the destruction so vast in so many areas that America may never recover. But what is equally disturbing is the impact that the dou would have on the rest of the world. Unfortunately, this is not a joke. In my lifetime I have seen the clownish, the inept, the bizarre be elected to the presidency with regularity.
Sarah Palin does not believe in evolution. I take this as a metaphor. In her world and the world of Fundamentalists nothing changes or gets better or evolves. She does not believe in global warming. The melting of the arctic, the storms that are destroying our cities, the pollution and rise of cancers, are all part of God's plan. She is fighting to take
the polar bears off the endangered species list. The earth, in
Palin's view, is here to be taken and plundered. The wolves and the bears are here to be shot and plundered. The oil is here to be taken and plundered. Iraq is here to be taken and plundered. As she said herself of the Iraqi war, "It was a task from God."
Sarah Palin does not believe in abortion. She does not believe women who are raped and incested and ripped open against their will should have a right to determine whether they have their rapist's baby or not. She obviously does not believe in sex education or birth control. I imagine her daughter was practicing abstinence and we know how many babies that makes.
Sarah Palin does not much believe in thinking. From what I gather she has tried to ban books from the library, has a tendency to dispense with people who think independently. She cannot tolerate an environment of ambiguity and difference. This is a woman who could and might very well be the next president of the United States . She would govern one of the most diverse populations on the earth.
Sarah believes in guns. She has her own custom Austrian hunting rifle. She has been known to kill 40 caribou at a clip. She has shot hundreds of wolves from the air.
Sarah believes in God. That is of course her right, her private right. But when God and Guns come together in the public sector, when war is declared in God's name, when the rights of women are denied in his name, that is the end of separation of church and state and the undoing of everything America has ever tried to be.
I write to my sisters. I write because I believe we hold this election in our hands. This vote is a vote that will determine the future not just of the U.S., but of the planet. It will determine whether we create policies to save the earth or make it forever uninhabitable for humans. It will determine whether we move towards dialogue and diplomacy in the world or whether we escalate violence through invasion, undermining and attack. It will determine whether we go for oil, strip mining, coal burning or invest our money in alternatives that will free us from dependency and destruction. It will determine if money gets spent on education and healthcare or whether we build more and more methods of killing. It will determine whether America is a free open tolerant society or a closed place of fear, fundamentalism and aggression.
If the Polar Bears don't move you to go and do everything in your power to get Obama elected then consider the chant that filled the hall after Palin spoke at the RNC, "Drill Drill Drill."
I think of teeth when I think of drills. I think of rape. I think of destruction. I think of domination. I think of military exercises that force mindless repetition, emptying the brain of analysis, doubt, ambiguity or dissent. I think of pain.
Do we want a future of drilling? More holes in the ozone, in the floor of the sea, more holes in our thinking, in the trust between nations and peoples, more holes in the fabric of this precious thing we call life?
You believe the falsehood of all of the "-isms" you are preaching. Remember, any and all
"-isms" are MAN-MADE philosophies, and are not to be compared with God's Holy Word.
God does not ask you to like what He says. Most people don't! But, if you are to have your sins forgiven, you must believe, and accept, His Word in total.
If you don't care whether or not your sins are forgiven (but you most certainly will some day), then you can choose to ignore Him and continue in your man-made, hysterical, beliefs.
You certainly do not have any peace in your beliefs, though. That is evident. How sad that you would CHOOSE such philosophies when they bring you such agony.
