The Winder Police Department will host a public forum April 24 to address a growing number of concerns regarding a substance being referred to as synthetic marijuana. The purpose of the forum is to invite all members of the community who wish to learn more about this topic and speak to them on what is being done to address it, a Winder Police press release states. The forum is set for 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the Winder-Barrow High School cafeteria.
Speakers at the event will include members of the Barrow County District Attorney's Office, representatives from Barrow County Schools, Winder Police Department narcotics investigators and School Resource Officers. A representative from Barrow Regional Medical Center and a state level politician have also been invited to speak, but are not confirmed at this time.
Winder PD hopes to offer an informative lecture on how the substance affects the people who use it and what is being done by the schools, state lawmakers and local law enforcement to address the issue. The forum is free of charge and will include a question and answer style session to conclude the event.
Anyone interested in learning more about this event is asked to contact Detective Gregg Teatino at the Winder Police Department at 678-425-6873.
Free the weed and free your mind.

Odins a PERFECT example of what weed does too your brain kids, stay away from it or end up like this guy. " free the weed and free your mind" give me a freaking break.
I'd be willing to bet that you've never even tried the drug that you're willing to come online to defend its prohibition. We all have some laws that we disagree with, but we are all expected to follow them. But how can you support one when all you have to back your argument is the same propaganda that has been peddled to the people for close to 100 years now? The drug is safer than the billions of burgers that McDonald's sells, but for some strange reason we are averted to anything that alters our perception (unless it be caffeine, tobacco, or alcohol). The only means that the plant can bring danger to the world is directly caused by its prohibition.
too bad the sheeple will believe everything the LEO'S have to say
too bad they will say the "real" stuff is just as bad
TOO BAD people are dying from this synthetic substance because of the "War on Drugs"
LEOs spread fear and commit terror and benefit financialy from the misery that is caused by their racist laws and fear of losing control of those they cannot understand.
as within so with-out
as above so below.
it is the journey inward that enlightens the mind and up-lifts the soul.
With-out inward reflection the mind will remain entrenched in the mundane and remain a slave to attachment.
Shake off the fetters of slavery...free your mind.

The law said it was legal....
"The United States Census of 1850 counted 8,327 hemp “plantations” (minimum 2,000-acre farm) growing cannabis hemp for cloth, canvas and even the cordage used for baling cotton."
Well what happened??
current MJ laws are based on the racism and fear mongering of the political class.
""In the early 1900s, the western states developed significant tensions regarding the influx of Mexican-Americans. The revolution in Mexico in 1910 spilled over the border, with General Pershing’s army clashing with bandit Pancho Villa. Later in that decade, bad feelings developed between the small farmer and the large farms that used cheaper Mexican labor. Then, the depression came and increased tensions, as jobs and welfare resources became scarce.
One of the “differences” seized upon during this time was the fact that many Mexicans smoked marijuana and had brought the plant with them, and it was through this that California apparently passed the first state marijuana law, outlawing “preparations of hemp, or loco weed.”
However, one of the first state laws outlawing marijuana may have been influenced, not just by Mexicans using the drug, but, oddly enough, because of Mormons using it. Mormons who traveled to Mexico in 1910 came back to Salt Lake City with marijuana. The church’s reaction to this may have contributed to the state’s marijuana law. (Note: the source for this speculation is from articles by Charles Whitebread, Professor of Law at USC Law School in a paper for the Virginia Law Review, and a speech to the California Judges Association .
Other states quickly followed suit with marijuana prohibition laws, including Wyoming (1915), Texas (1919), Iowa (1923), Nevada (1923), Oregon (1923), Washington (1923), Arkansas (1923), and Nebraska (1927). These laws tended to be specifically targeted against the Mexican-American population.
When Montana outlawed marijuana in 1927, the Butte Montana Standard reported a legislator’s comment: “When some beet field peon takes a few traces of this stuff… he thinks he has just been elected president of Mexico, so he starts out to execute all his political enemies.” In Texas, a senator said on the floor of the Senate: “All Mexicans are crazy, and this stuff [marijuana] is what makes them crazy.”
Again...If Jim Crow was still the LAW....I'm sure you would still enjoy locking up your fellow citizens.
You act as if a law is handed down from the devine and that law is now universal..
Fact is mans law is nothing but words on paper signed by a few fat cats who stand to benefit from its enforcement.
If you do not like what I write...then don't read it...easy for you.
Namaste amigo

I dont really care about the order or history of each state deciding to make marijuana illegal, IT DOESN'T Matter, It IS ILLEGAL NOW.
Since the beginning of widespread cannabis prohibition around the mid 20th century, most countries have NOT re-legalized it for personal use, although more than 10 countries tolerate (or have decriminalized) its use and/or its cultivation in limited quantities. I suggest you PICK ONE OF THOSE 10 NATIONS...Or lobby the correct body of government.
Its downtown at 94 North Broad Street, Winder, GA so come on down, and journey with us, ...free your mind.
They seem to have trouble communicating....lots of grunts and mumbles.
O well I geuss primitve beings need a place to gather.
Used is a sacred manner by those who seek to commune with the Gods, by those who seek higher consciousness.
You can beat your macho chests and srceam like apes all you want....fact is you can't stop me or my neighbors from enjoying a raised state of consciousness....even this evening.
You can protest and legislate all you want....fact is you cannot stop an IDEA.
the idea of conscious awareness and the ability to alter ones consciousness trancendes all of societies smoke and mirrors.
When you raise your consciousness, you also raise your empathy for your fellow humans and the earth.
That is an idea whose time has come.
So yall enjoy your life of willful ignorance and self-emposed slavery.
Catch me in the noosphere.....If ya can!

These people are far too close-minded and concerned with controlling your body to listen to what you have to say. Despite the fact that they enjoy guzzling budweiser at the dirt track on Friday night, they think that altering your consciousness is somehow immoral. Hell, some of them even think taking an estrogen pill to keep a woman from ovulating is immoral.
1. Sorry its Illegal Now.
2. You all may rant here until the internet shuts down or the economy is so bad the Journal goes under, whichever happens first, ONLY your LAWMAKERS can Change these Laws.
3. I agree with you on certain Civil Liberties that the govt needs to stay out of and "what you put in your bodies, TO A POINT"
4. I say we make it legal but with Some Restrictions, and the government either sells it or regulates it's sale (that will fund the economy and pay for the "restrictions violators" LE costs) --BUT None of You would accept it, would you??? You would want all or none, and I expect you would get none...
I understand the weakness of my argument and I can see the point why drugs such as meth, heroin, and cocaine are illegal. They are destructive to those that use them, those that associate with them, and eventually society itself as those that are addicted steal the copper in my AC unit to get their next hit.
But cannabis is no more dangerous to personal health or safety than half of the things we encounter every day, and it is obvious that humans enjoy slightly altering our consciousness. Let it be legal, regulate its usage like we do with alcohol, and tax the hell out of it.
PRESCRIPTION DRUGS.
But I guess like most LEOs the WPD is out of touch and behind the times.
