The consolidation of the dispatching services of the Winder Police Department and Barrow County’s E-911 Center has been accomplished. The Barrow County Board of Commissioners Tuesday night voted to accept the amendments to an intergovernmental agreement that the Winder City Council approved last month.
Under the amended agreement, which takes effect June 12, the board will hire and maintain four new full-time positions in the emergency communications center.
The city has agreed to pay $500,000 over the next three years to cover the cost of the employees’ salaries and benefits.
