A 49-year-old man was caught this week with his pants down near a public park in downtown Winder where kids were playing. Michael Lindsey Miller, of 120 2nd St., Winder, was arrested Monday after an off-duty Barrow County Sheriff’s deputy notified authorities to suspicious behavior happening near children. The deputy, who was with his family at a soccer field told police he saw Miller, who “appeared to be watching the children on the field,” a Winder Police Department incident report states.”
While the deputy was on the phone with police, he looked again and saw that Miller “had taken off his pants and (he) saw his unclothed buttocks,” according to the report.
The deputy then began walking toward Miller, who pant-less-ly began running away from him crossing Second Street Street toward Brookwood Town Homes. The deputy yelled at Miller several times to “stop” while announcing “sheriff’s office,” but Miller ran into a dark area and the deputy did not have a flashlight with him. Then the deputy watched Miller pull his pants up and try to secure the front of them as he unknowingly walked back towards him, the report states. When the deputy announced, “stop sheriff’s office” that time, Miller began running toward Second Street and up a hill.
When Winder Police arrived, Miller stopped running. He told an officer his name and said he had to urinate. Asked why he decided to urinate near a soccer field where kids were practicing, Miller said he didn’t know.
He was arrested on charges of public indecency, urinating in public and obstruction, and was taken to the Barrow County Detention Center.
