Although funding for the project has not been acquired, the Auburn City Council voted last week to approve the architectural designs for a proposed cultural arts and community center.
In a 2-2 tied vote broken by Mayor Linda Blechinger, the council approved the plans for the R&R/Perry Rainey Institute building off of College Street in Auburn. The plans were approved under the condition that columns featured on the first floor of the building are removed and replaced with steel beams. Council members Robert Vogel and Peggy Langley were opposed to the plans.
The project, which was designed to convert the historic building into an event center, was initially to be funded by a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant. However, in September the council learned that the city would not receive the grant.

You cant buy stuff when funds are low, who is going to pay for it! (I say No today, maybe later)---who taught these people ECONOMICS? Obama?
Some people do not realize that CHANGE is needed. If not, Auburn will become another po-dunk town like Carl that slowly fades away into the woodwork.
I too am glad your kids are not in the the arts. That leaves more room for my kids.
