The City of Winder has voted to increase the occupational tax for businesses with one or no employees from $35 dollars to $50 dollars. All other rate levels will remain unchanged.
The city council also approved a regulatory rate increase for malt beverage sales and wine sales from $300 to $500 per year.
City Clerk Sabrina Wall said the rate increase is necessary to reimburse the city for the work that is involved in issuing permits.
OTHER BUSINESS
In other business, council approved:
•a revision to the charitable solicitations ordinance to allow the city clerk or his/her designee to accept applications for solicitation permits.
•a liquor by the drink permit for Beef O’Brady’s at 17 Monroe Highway.
•a bail bondsmen permit for All American Bail Bonds.
•an event permit for Summer’s End 5000 Race/Walk to be held Aug, 9.
•an event permit for the Dog Gone Summer Festival scheduled for Sept. 27, at the old train depot on Porter Street.
•an event permit for National Life Chain set for Oct. 5 on May Street.
