Winder man faces hit and run charge, DUI

A Winder man is in custody after allegedly leaving the scene of an accident while intoxicated Thursday afternoon.

According to Winder Police spokesperson Chris Cooper, the hit and run occurred at about 2 p.m. in the area of City Pond Park and City Pond Road. A victim called 911 to report another vehicle had struck their vehicle and was attempting to leave the scene. The Sheriff’s Office worked that accident just slightly outside of the Winder city limits, Cooper said.

Stephen Kyle Disney, 26, of 205 Glenview Terrace, Apt. A, Winder, was arrested by the Winder Police Department at 5:28 p.m. Feb. 23, a Barrow County jail media arrest summary states.

The charges Disney faces with Winder PD are hit and run, DUI-alcohol/controlled substance, failure to yield, possession of open alcohol container and reckless driving. He may face other charges with the Barrow County Sheriff's Office, Cooper said.
