Shannon Navarre, who for the past three years has managed Barrow County’s Storm Water/Keep Barrow Beautiful Department, is leaving her post March 15. The Barrow County Board of Commissioners combined the departments during a 2009 reduction in force and Navarre since then also has supervised the mailroom. “I’m just tired,” she told the Barrow Journal last week after submitting her Feb. 15 letter of resignation.
Navarre also recommended that the county hire a part-time Keep Barrow Beautiful director whose job would be to educate the public in the best practices to lessen runoff and also to oversee solid waste and recycling tasks required under the county’s NPDES Phase II permit.
However, she recommended that the Storm Water/KBB department in the future have “NO code enforcement duties” other than those pertaining to illicit pollution discharge violations.

How about educating the BOC 1st?
Shannon, thank you for everything, you were a great hire!
