Bethlehem one step closer to alcohol vote

The Bethlehem Town Council will decide at its March meeting whether to put the issue of Sunday alcohol sales before the citizens.

Council members agreed — despite some opposition —to move forward with the issue during Monday night’s meeting. An official vote by the council will take place next month.

“I think we should let the people decide,” said council member Scott Morgan.

“I have no problem with it,” said member Tommy Parten.

But council member Tommy Buchanan continues to be against putting the issue before the voters.

“I was against it before and I still say no,” Buchanan said.

Dont do it Bethleham, do you think that Joseph and Mary were drunk when the baby Jesus was born?Why would you want to be like the rest of the barrow county drunkards? Scott and Tommy just do your drinking six days of the week and leave the Lords day alone.
Winder has fallen ,Aubrun and Braselton have fallen , Stateham has fallen the unincorparated areas have fallen.Will lowly bethleham reamin standing or will the drunkards in your midst cause your city to go the way of the rest of barrow?
Stand for something citizens, His yoke is easy.Satan says you can be free of responsibility, free of Godly commands, free and yet bound to your satan and not even knowing it.Dont throw away your vote for filthy lucer and mamon.

To the People of Bethlehem: WHY???

Why Bethlehem? Why can't you guys be DIFFERENT and Resist Temptation? It is Not going to change the town for the good.

The 601 people who actually live there cant go the 1-2 miles (if that) into Winder or even the county to get your Drink On???
Are you guys that lazy too?

Your towns STREETS are named after BIBLE Events and People, CHRISTmas, Mary, Joseph, etc. You cant resist really?

Like the massive influx of major business is going to pass you by, --Unlike whats happened in Winder,Statham,Braselton,Auburn??...Oh, Wait NOTHING has happened new for any of them either... Only could have affected place they already had.

And there is nothing now in your nice quant little town, --you aren't missing anything either. Just Say NO! (you will be the only ones with the stones) -what is the rush anyway?

I thought Bethlehem was home to Barrow County's more religious right and conservative leaning folks anyway?? I guess the quiet of your little town isn't good enough.

Now Jack;
If your mind is so weak, and your will is so weak, and your spirit so weak that you cannot handle a drink of alcoholic libation; the by all means don’t drink.
But do not project your inadequacies and short comings onto the other folks of the community.
Who, by their very nature are mature enough, disciplined enough and responsible enough to enjoy an alcoholic drink without turning into raving lunatics.
My body, my rights; your rights end at your person or property line.
If you cannot handle your freedoms and free will; do not deny others the opportunities to enjoy theirs.

Time to grow up and realize that not everyone embraces xtian values,
That there are other world-views and belief systems that have existed long before the christ myth came into the world.

Dogmas divide people, spiritualities unite people.

If I chose to drink , which I dont out of moral reasons, I would be able to "handle"it as you say. Thats not the point though is it?, In a free society where we are given the right to choose righoutsness or sin it is a proven fact that people will choose sin over that which is good every time, unless they are educated by someone that they can overcome their weakness of the flesh.I say vote against the sale of alchohol on Sundays because it is the Lords day and you have 6 other days to drink your swill or at least by it.Everywhere in Barrow county that this measure has been left to the people to choose, they have chosen to say its ok to get drunk on Sundays just like any other day. I frankly dont expect the people of bethleham to be any different, but I wont let that stop me from trying . and urging people who are like minded to get out and vote against this measure. I still say that if you dont stand for something then you'll fall for anything, and you can look at the choices the people of barrow have made on this issue as well as others to see that they dont really stand for anything around here except getting druk and feeling good about themselves.

Militant bible-thumpers need to join Jesus if they love him so much. Booze is legal. So is abortion. I'd love to see Santorum get the GOP nomination, so Obama could kick his ass in 50 states.

I agree Santorum is the only nominee that can beat Obama, but the Associated Press knows Mitt can be beat so they are promoting him to be the frontrunner. Romney is bad for us, and only sees financial profit out of being President. He is a perfect animation of a politician brought to life. Go Rick, we need somebody real!

Santorum is a liquor-addled Catholic who thinks rubbers are evil and should be made illegal. He is also a chickenhawk who wants war with Iran right now. Also, it strikes me as more than a little odd that he and his elderly wife spent the night in the hospital sleeping with a dead baby (one that they knew could not survive) and then took the corpse home so that their other numerous brood could play with and "meet" their dead brother. He was turned out of office in 2006, by 19 points, when PA voters had had enough of his beer-fueled extremism.
