Board of assessors evaluating properties

The Barrow County Board of Assessors has begun the process of reviewing all properties throughout the county for a reassessment. The process began the week of Jan. 1.

Initial site visits will include properties which are the subject of an active building permit for changes and improvements which have been made to the property, building permits which are dated prior to Jan. 1, 2011, field reviews for properties that have not acquired permits yet have made changes and improvements to their property and other reasons deemed necessary to make an appraisal for fair market value.

These appraisal reviews will include all classes of property and may involve measuring structures, listing construction information and photographing property and/or improvements. The majority of these field reviews will take between through May 1.

Yep, time for us to pay for that pay raise and Christmas bonus all Winder government employees got back in December. Y'all remember don't you? Y'all were all for it then, well how about now?

And let's not forget the threat last year of "If we don't approve this splost tax then we'll have to raise property taxes, and we don't want to do that"
