Five Barrow day care programs rated ‘non-compliant’

Several area daycare centers, including five in Barrow County, were shown to be non-compliant with state standards according to a database compiled by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Using the state’s open records law, the AJC compiled data on the state’s daycare centers based on an internal rating system kept by the Department of Early Care and Learning.

Locally, Barrow County had five non-compliant facilities in 2011.

No details as to why the day care programs were rated as non-compliant were given.

Or just go to AJC.com to read the original story. That story also allows you to pull the scores for every day care in Georgia. Pay a quarter for the Barrow rag? LOL.

Let em pay to get what they need. At $100-150 a week per kid, they can afford it!

Does anyone know what types of violations can make a daycare center non-compliant? I looked up the report and it is not very detailed. Children's Friend has been out of compliance 2 out of the last 4 years and did not fare very will the other two. Maybe I should pull my child out?

My child was in Children's Friend Learning Centers that school for less than a month and the place was a disaster. The management was lacking. I pulled her in 2005. So there have been issues for many many years.

Play Palace is a disaster! I pulled my child from there and would never consider even dropping my dog off there for doggy sitting. This place is totally unprofessional. The staff is incompetent; could almost bet that several are heavy drug users.

Check out learning centers at www.greatschools.org Great site for ratings and parent comments. Its my understanding that non-compliant is related to safety issues at a center.
