The Auburn City Council approved the annexation and rezoning of 22 acres near the downtown district at last week’s meeting.
The property at 121 Mount Moriah Road is adjacent to 11 acres that were already in the city limits. Now all 33 acres are zoned C2C, or general commercial district conditional, and correspond to the zoning in the overlay district.
Property owner Rick Wright told the council Jan. 19 that one real estate company already is expressing interest in developing part of the 33-acre parcel, which lies on the east side of Mount Moriah Road.
