Train derails in Auburn; no injuries

Early Tuesday morning around 7-7:30 a.m. a train derailed in Auburn at Etheridge Road, but the line now has reopened, according to CSX spokesman Gary Sease.

There were no reported injuries, and the cars in the local Palmer train were transporting plastic.

"[It] held four cars total – two were leaning and two were turned," said Sease.

A CSX crew is investigating the cause of the derailment.

Mayor of Auburn Linda Blechinger early this afternoon was present on the scene with several city employees.

"I am just very thankful that there were no chemicals and nobody was hurt," she said. "This is what we train for at the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC)."

I'm going to remind bloggers again to stay on topic when posting. This article is about a train wreck, not various political issues. Write about the train wreck all you want, but when you simply use every story posted to repeat your political agenda over and over and over, I will delete it.

On-topic would be discussing how a policy or politician led to this wreck. Off-topic would be using it to spring off into a tirade against government.

I think it's completely appropriate to compare our current state of political affiars to this unfortunate incident, refered to as a "train wreck". Metaphorically speaking, if the Barrow County government was a train, then the engineer (Danny Yearwood) has proven that he was placed in a position that he cannot handle; and in turn, has "wrecked the train"...
