Maynard sworn in as mayor

Noting the "integrity" that he had first observed in David Maynard even as a youth, Senior Superior Court Judge T. Penn McWhorter swore Winder's new mayor, David Maynard, into office Jan. 5. Also taking their oaths of office were councilmen Charlie F. Eberhart, Larry Evans and Travis Singley. It was Eberhart's fifth oath of office, Evans' second and Singley's first. In the standing-room-only audience were the elected officials' families, several city residents and the city's management team. The first public meeting of the newly configured Winder City Council is at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 9 in the Winder Community Center.
