Noting the "integrity" that he had first observed in David Maynard even as a youth, Senior Superior Court Judge T. Penn McWhorter swore Winder's new mayor, David Maynard, into office Jan. 5. Also taking their oaths of office were councilmen Charlie F. Eberhart, Larry Evans and Travis Singley. It was Eberhart's fifth oath of office, Evans' second and Singley's first. In the standing-room-only audience were the elected officials' families, several city residents and the city's management team. The first public meeting of the newly configured Winder City Council is at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 9 in the Winder Community Center.
Considering the fiasco of the last 4 years this is a breath of fresh air. I pray that David will stay true to his city and more importantly, stay true to God who will guide you every step of the way. I pray that David will not become "God like" in his own self as several past City of Winder employees have done and remember that he is one of God's servants chosen to lead in His example.
God Bless You, David. We are praying for you to lead our town to its former reputation.
