Have you always wanted to give a grade to your local public officials? You will have that chance by filling out a public officials report card that is located inside the Jan. 4 issue of the Barrow Journal.

Just as school students receive a grade from A to F, here’s your opportunity to grade how well your local public officials did in 2011.

Look inside the Barrow Journal this week and give your local officials a grade. The Journal will report the results later in the month.

is there grade below an F because yearwood would get that, they used to have one called an I, but I just dont think he fits those parameters.F minus just doesnt say it all either. How about a Z minus for dannyboy.

Chairman Yearwood will get low marks from most in this county, except those die hard supporters with blinders on ,who think he has done no wrong in the last several years. Others will offer Chairman Yearwood some sort of performance grade that at best, will not be complementary.... I am not sure it is necessary to beat a dead horse...the damage is already done.........putting a "Grade" on it only pours salt in the wound...........and of course, sells more newspapers..........

DuWayne: Why don't you wait and see what the format is of the report card before you rip it? It is much more than about just one individual. Don't you think citizens should have a forum for evaluating their local governments on a yearly basis?

Why not just put it online. I know one has to purchase the paper first to be able to get the form, but darn. Online is where everything is, Mike. Keep up the good work though...

My grade would be F's across the board for them all. City and County, because they all should be ashamed of their performance. They were elected to serve the people--------not themselves and their supporters!!

Yearwood has done NOTHING for Barrow county since he has been in office. He has turned a once up and coming location into a bankrupt laughing stock around the entire state.
I was recently at a public service administrative conference in Millageville with other people from around the state , when they found out I was from Barrow county ,all anyone could do was talk about what a buffoon that yearwood guy is. In fact the key note speaker at one of the break-out sessions used the entire yearwood vs fire chief thing to show how elected officials should not try to set public safety policy.
The citizens were the loosers in that fiasco and have been loosing ever since in the arena of public safety.
I am sure that I can do a better job as commisioner than yearwood has done.
You are one of his biggest supporters .Can you name anything positive that he has done since he has been in office?
Perhaps before the election I can gain your confidence and support.
Get a leg up in 2012.

I do wish the "Report Card" had been broken down to individuals...I hate the fact that the good ones will sink with the ship, regardless of their efforts to control the rogues.

Whats spelling got to do with leadership ? I would bet that yearwood spells real good, and Obama has very nice grammar, bu tare they leaders? No they are not.Maybe Jack Legg can hire your wife to type for him since she does such a good job with youyr typing.

Jack, are you sure you were'nt in Milledgeville on a doctors visit? If you were ther for anything related to public service or politics God help us all. Big Danny has cut a bunch of fatcats getting fatcat pay. Kept the "airport" crowd in check. kept us in the black. Hell, he even paved a few roads that needed it. What have you done for us lately?
Spewed that sewage you always talk, and well, entertained us.

Let's see...ran off all the fatcats getting fatcat pay. Well look where that has gotten us. Idiot Yearwood ran off all the talent we had in county government. Now all we have is yearwood running the county...fired everybody else that knew more than he did. That's why we do not have anybody left..they all knew more that he did.
Yeah, he really kept the "airport crowd" in check. That issue is why his butt will be on the outside looking inside next year. Yearwood was the single cause and the determing factor why we will have a county manager. Yeah, he really out smarted them.
Let's face it, you have been a yearwood suckup ever since he took office. As a matter of fact, how do we know that you are not yearwood?

He didnt get rid of any fat cats, he did run off some very capable people from top management, this put the day to day operations into chaos, which is what he wanted all along.He helped to steal that families land down by the airport for his fat cat rich buddies at the airport.Kept us in the black? the only thing he did for the black is tell them they better stay back,he is a racist who thinks that blacks and browns should stay down and bring him his coffee.He is also a sexist who thinks that the only proper place for any female employee to work in Barrow county is under his desk, he only hires them if they look good enough to "close the door behind".
The only road he pave was the one that he lives on.
he refuses to pay his property taxes
he refuses to clean up his property
he thinks he is better than others in the condescending way he speaks to others.
he has run off m enough business to keep the county from growing
he is against free markets
he threw away millions of dollars to help MARTA....marta???
These are just some of the things he has done to us,it is time for him to go.

Anonymous both you and Jack are easy prey. And the only reason we'll have a county manager is uneducated, quick tempered chaps like you guys listen to talking heads and gave away your right to vote someone in or out. Now we will be stuck with whomever the bureaucrats give us. Hope you are ready. And go back and read your post Jack, typical "chase a rabbit" response. And why throw race into it? you are as shallow as a mud hole on a dirt road. He doesnt live on the road he paved. We are not in the "red" overbudget or in debt. Whatever you'd like to call it. He cleaned up his property, admittedly with arguement and stubborness, which was bad business, but that situation was created and he fell for it. How would you like Danny Boy to tell you to clean up your property? He was wrong to cosider raising taxes and did cost us money with his attitude. But overall hes for the citizens. Ans sorry to disappoint, I aint Danny.

if you think we gavce up ANY rights to have a county manager system of govt. then you are indeed unwothy of said rights.we the people will have more chance to be heard with this system as opposed to king danny .and your comment about race is very telling. I didnt bring it in, yearwood did when he went after the people of color in his administration.
you have porved over and over agin by your mindless postings that you dont know whats going on.we really should have some kind of basic intelligence test in this country before someone is given the right to vote,then idiots like you would be on the outside looking in.
