Tenie Hammond Baird Jr., 88, of Winder, died Thursday, March 13, 2008.
Born in Walton County, he was the son of the late Tenie Hammond and Edith Merle Hill Baird. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church, was a retired shipping clerk from Carwood Manufacturing, and also worked at Quality Foods Grocery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Chester Johnson Baird; a son, Charles Baird; brother, John Baird. Mr. Baird was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include a special friend, Martha Hayes, Winder; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jerrye Baird, Macon; sister, Myrtle Hayes, Warner Robins; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Saturday, March 15, at Barrow Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Doyle Sims officiating.
