Several people were recognized at an Auburn City Council meeting Dec. 1, including one Auburn Elementary School fifth grader who tied for first place in a statewide essay-writing contest relating to emergency preparedness.
Ten-year-old Tamara Head and AES teacher Kim Easterling were congratulated for Tamara’s writing ability under the prompt “Remember the Past, Get Ready for the Future” art, essay and video contest.
Tamara’s essay took top over hundreds of entries from across the state.
We will soon have one of the best school systems in the entire state and I am very proud to call this place my home.
