Barrow "Children After the Fire" gets national recognition

The Barrow County Fire and Emergency Services "Children after the Fire" program has been selected as one of seven finalists by the International Association of Fire Chiefs for the prestigious IAFC's US Safety Engineering Award for Excellence.

Each year, the IAFC solicits and receives hundreds of entries from fire service organizations across the country for consideration for the award. A review committee headed by Chief Ronny J. Coleman screens each program using criterion established during the 24-year existence of the program.

The seven finalists are then sent to the final selection committee comprised of past presidents of the International Association of Fire Chiefs. The top award winner will be announced at the IAFC Annual Conference Aug. 14-17, in Denver, Colo. Chief Robert Post will be representing the department at the event.

I personally know the people who were instrumental in this program from the very beginning!!! I won't name names, but you know who you are. This is an awesome accomplishment for Barrow County and just goes to show the kind of people we have working here. I just thought a comment on something so positive was much needed. Let's hope Chief Post brings this award back from Denver.
