How to vote in the Nov. 8 elections

No matter where you live in Barrow County, you can vote in the countywide special election in the following ways:

• VOTE EARLY: Go in person to the Barrow County Board of Elections & Registration Office at 233 E. Broad St. from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. any weekday between now and Nov. 4. An early voting location has been set up inside a training room nearby. Follow the signs.

• VOTE ABSENTEE: Request an absentee ballot from the Barrow County Board of Elections & Registration by calling 770-307-3110. The ballot will be sent to you by mail. You must request it no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, and the elections office must receive it before the polls close on Tuesday, Nov. 8. If you bring your absentee ballot to the office, you must bring it yourself.

• VOTE ON ELECTION DAY: Election Day is Nov. 8. Go to your regular county polling place. If you do not know where that is, you can find out by calling the county elections office at 770-307-3110 or by going online at http://sos.georgia.gov/MVP/ and filling in the form that requires your name, county and birthdate. Hit “submit” and the website will provide your county polling place.

• RESIDENTS OF AUBURN, BETHLEHEM AND WINDER: Some Auburn and Winder voters will vote in one place for their city’s municipal elections and another place for the countywide special election. If you reside in Auburn or Winder, you should have a new precinct card that was sent to you in September. That card tells you where you are to vote in both the city and county elections. If you have lost your new precinct card, call the county elections office at 770-307-3110 for assistance.

• RESIDENTS OF BRASELTON AND STATHAM: Braselton and Statham conduct their own municipal elections. If you have questions, call city hall. Vote early in the county election by going to the county elections office or by requesting an absentee ballot. Or vote in person on Nov. 8 at your county polling place. (See above for instructions.)

• RESIDENTS OF CARL: The town of Carl will not have a municipal election on Nov. 8, because there are no contested races. But you can vote in the countywide special election by going to your regular county polling location.

• RESIDENTS OF UNINCORPORATED BARROW COUNTY: You will not vote in a municipal election, but you may vote in the countywide referendum by voting early at the county elections office, by requesting an absentee ballot from the elections office, or by going to your regular polling place on Nov. 8.

Remember these deadlines:

• Nov. 4 is the deadline for voting early at the county elections office. The hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

• Nov. 4 is the deadline for requesting an absentee ballot.

• Nov. 8 is the deadline for returning absentee ballots.

• Nov. 8 is Election Day. Polls in all elections are open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Remember it is important that if you are on the challenged voter list it would be best to vote early to avoid delays !

prospective managers likely would negotiate for a contract. The salary range for the position would be $87,179 to $135,127. plus 25,000 for Chairman of the Board!!!! wow

Gee, We only spent $250,000.00 for the County attorney to do the job for the last 4 years ($1,000,000 dollars of your money)

$250,000+ per year for the county attorney to act as county manager vs. $160,127 for county manager style of government. That's a savings of $89,873. WOW

FUZZY math no you add the tty fees plus the Chairmans wages plus the new county managers wages, the ATTY will still be in place, the only thing is Chairman will be paid only 25,000 so
24,000 plus we will say 130,000 plus 250,000.

that is added expenses plus the manager would have an office, and staff......
car, expenses maybe even we pay to have one moved to area.......

so it wont save it will add to what we already get bilked out of

Nope no fuzzy math. The reason the atty fees are so high IS BECAUSE SHE IS ACTING AS A COUNTY MANAGER.

Yearwood and the BOC can't fart without asking her the proper procedure for doing so, and then they don't listen.

The $250,000.00 for the County Attorney is a retainer... If the county does not need her services it remains in the escrow account. Because She is at almost every BOC meeting... She has billed hours and burnt the retainer acting as the County Manager. If she was not hand holding the BOC and Chairman the county would not have spent the retainer and then some for each of the last four years. "Stop waste full spending..." Yearwood I guess YOU didn't need that money for your house payment, your retirement, food, gas... I hear the County's plan for new commerce is a Welfare Office in downtown Winder... I guess that's better then the panhandling businesses
