Now that this year’s storm damage to the roof atop the county government’s headquarters has been repaired, the roofs on nine other county buildings also will be replaced.
The Barrow County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a $199,473 contract with the J.T. Elrod Construction of Bethlehem Tuesday night to replace the roofs on the following buildings: Early Head Start, Mental Health, Adult Day Care, the former Work Release, the Recreation Multipurpose, the Piedmont library in Winder, Fire Station 3, former Animal Control, and the parks and recreation department’s announcer booth.
County operations development manager Bob Hohe said all of the roofing materials would be purchased inside Barrow County.
Two insurance companies are covering most of the costs, though $4965 will come from the county’s operating fund and another $2,600 will come from the 2005 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax proceeds.
