As Halloween draws closer, I started coming up with an idea to give awards to some of the best moments in horror/Halloween cinema in my opinion. Most “awards” are not conventional like “best actor” or “best cinematography” but rather geared toward the horror (and humorous side). So, without further ado, here it goes.
Best Singing Performance: Bette Midler performing “I Put A Spell on You” in the Disney film “Hocus Pocus.” I don’t know about you, but I think Midler does a wonderful job portraying a witch and her powerful vocals in the song add a fun and creepy vibe to the scene.
Best Use of Blood: Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece “The Shining.” For those who have seen the movie, you guys know what I’m talking about. While this movie is not necessarily a “gore fest,” it tastefully uses more blood than a true gore fest could ever dream of.

The original Halloween directed by John Carpenter still gives me chills.
