The Winder City Council on Tuesday approved the expenditure of $87,215 to fix a flooding problem on Lee Street.
The contractor, Omshiv Construction LLC, will replace two culverts – one metal and the other concrete – with three new culverts. The project also will include sidewalk improvements.
The metal pipe has significantly deteriorated, causing a noticeable dip in the road, and planning director Barry Edgar told the council at Monday’s work session that there is a lot of infrastructure in that part of town that needs to be addressed.
Nine companies bid on the culvert project, and the bids were as high as $184,420.
