Gov. Nathan Deal has signed the legislation calling a Nov. 8 referendum to allow local voters to choose if they want the daily operations of Barrow County’s government to be managed by the chairman of the Barrow County Board of Commissioners or a by professional county manager.
Also on Sept. 7, the governor signed the bills establishing new election district boundaries both for the BOC and for the Barrow County Board of Education.
The new election districts will be in place for the 2012 county elections, and any change to the role of the BOC chairman will become effective in January 2013.

get a legg up in 2012.
It needs to be someone qualified to do the job though or we would be just as well off sticking with what we have now.
I dont think Kieth Lee was ever really qualified to do that job, he just sort of fell into it because of family connections.
Overall this style of govt. should take the petty politics out of the day to day operations, B.S. will still rear its ugly head though.
I think the best thing this style of govt. gives us is continuity of sevice, continuity of vision and future direction.Im voting for it.
We are talking about hiring a PROFESSIONAL, who HAS EXPERIENCE in RUNNING a county government.
BIG DIFFERENCE.
Is there anyone that is a resident of this county, that you guys can think of being willing to step forward? If so, name names now.
