The revocation of Todd Orr’s probation last week not only will cost him his freedom for the next 21 months. It also will cost the former Barrow County Emergency Services lieutenant his recertification as a Georgia firefighter – at least temporarily.
Lyn Pardue, executive director of Georgia Firefighters Standards and Training Council, told the Barrow Journal that because Orr no longer works for Barrow County Emergency Services and will not work for any other department for the rest of the year, his firefighting certification will lapse at the end of December.
“We are not showing him as being a member of a fire department in Georgia at this time,” Pardue stated in an email.
“Individuals must be a member of a fire department to maintain certification. His certification will lapse if no 2011 (core competency and training) hours are reported anyway. Looks like it will lapse.”
