Today is the final day of candidate qualifying in most of this year’s municipal elections.
So far the only races with any competition are in Winder.
The election outcomes, in fact, already are known in the towns of Carl and Braselton, where qualifying has ended with only one candidate for each post.
Incumbent Rebecca Knight will keep her seat on the Carl Town Council for another four years, and Derrick Jones will fill the seat being vacated by council member Truman Phillips. Jones will take his seat on Jan. 19, 2012.
Winder sees only races so far as qualifying closes today

I'm please to see that Garrison realized he couldn't win and decided to not run.
