The Barrow County Board of Education is slated to hear details Tuesday about a grant that will supplement more than $1.7 million into the system over the next three years for the areas of science, engineering, technology and mathematics, otherwise known as STEM, and STEM degree-seeking students.
The money would go toward the creation of interactive coursework for middle and high school STEM students, as well as the purchase of iPad2s for those students on the STEM degree path.
Running fiber to connect the Colleen Williams Culture and Arts Center and the local TV station to the Barrow school network may also be achievable with the grant money.
