Blechinger announces re-election intentions

If re-elected, Blechinger said she'd like to see more businesses coming into the city. “We have invested in critical infrastructure and worked diligently to create an environment that would be inviting to large businesses, entrepreneurs and artists...” she said.

As far as who may be planning to unseat her, Blechinger wasn't sure, but she makes a practice of not listening to rumors.
The Auburn mayor, however, isn't the only seat up for re-election in November.

Two council member seats, currently belonging to Dorissa Shackleford and Peggy Langley, will also appear on the upcoming ballot.

“Both councilwomen are very dedicated to the city of Auburn,” said Blechinger when asked for her insight. “I appreciate how we work together for the city. We are all very different and of course that is a good thing. Having different points of view and insight brings depth and great discussion.”

Asked if she would like to offer any other statements about the most northeastern city in Barrow County, home to more than 7,600 residents, Blechinger called Auburn a “beautiful, active community.”

“We are made up of people who care for each other and are willing to work hard to make this a better place,” she said. “I have a lot of respect for the people who live and work here. It takes the community to make a city a place where people want to visit, open businesses and live. I love the City of Auburn and I would love to have the honor of serving the citizens for another term.”
