Auburn Mayor Linda Blechinger wasn't going to officially announce running for re-election until next week when she qualifies, but questions led to her seeping the news a little early.
The 51-year-old Republican who hailed from New York said Wednesday by email that she would like to continue being Auburn's mayor for another term because she absolutely loves what her administration is accomplishing in the city. “To see the plan coming to fruition is exciting,” she wrote.
But, the humble mayor added: “Don’t forget this vision started six years ago, a year before I served on Council, it was then confirmed by two more vision processes which were driven by citizens. Once we knew the vision we moved quickly in hiring consultants to develop an implementation plan. That is what we have been working on, one step at a time, well maybe two steps at a time!"
