County voters will have two questions on their ballots Nov. 8.
In addition to deciding whether a county manager should run the day-to-day operation of their government starting in 2013, they also will decide whether to allow stores in unincorporated areas of the county to sell beer and wine by the package on Sundays.
In a 4-3 vote decided by chairman Danny Yearwood, the Barrow County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday night agreed to include Sunday sales on the ballot for the countywide referendum.
Yearwood added the issue to the meeting’s agenda, saying he felt it would only be fair to allow county retailers to have the same opportunity that retailers in Auburn, Braselton and Winder would have if approved by their voters in the municipal elections the same day.
Adding the hot-button issue to the county’s ballots also would likely increase voter turnout for the countywide referendum.
In Tuesday’s vote commissioners Larry Joe Wilburn, Steve Worley and Ben Hendrix voted yes. Commissioners Eva Elder, Isaiah Berry and Billy Parks voted no.

This is about more than generating just tax money. It is about the safety of our citizens on the roads and frankly its about the sanctity of Sunday in the south.
VOTE NO foe sunday sales ,
VOTE yes to change our government.
"Democracy will soon degenerate into an anarchy, such an anarchy that every man will do what is right in his own eyes and no man's life or property or reputation or liberty will be secure, and every one of these will soon mould itself into a system of subordination of all the moral virtues and intellectual abilities, all the powers of wealth, beauty, wit and science, to the wanton pleasures, the capricious will, and the execrable cruelty of one or a very few."
John Adams, An Essay on Man's Lust for Power, 1763
Umm....just wonderin' Jack, WHERE is that in the Constitution again??
If I want to imbibe in horn of ale on Sunna dag.
That is none of your damn buisness.
Responsible and freedom loving adults have a right to purchase alcohol with-out self righteous political hacks like you fear mongering the public.
Vote for freedom...Vote for Sunday Alcohol sales.
-Thund
That is pure speculation on your part.
On the other hand,
Maybe if you embraced the concepts of freedom and liberty,
You would not have to fear other people and what they do.
Just because you can't handle a glass of beer,
does not give you the right to deny others the pleasure of a well crafted brew.
Live Free or Die.
Vote for Sunday Sales

Sunday beer & wine sales may help tax revenue, which would be a good thing.
Before Jack & DuWayne lable me as a drunk, I rarely drink anything stronger than iced tea, but I will vote for Sunday package sales.
It is NOT my place( nor anyone else's) to prohibit any other freedom loving adult from drinking alcohol whenever they choose.
This is just one more pathetic attempt for the self righteous to try and dictate everyone else's lives.
Doesn't matter one iota to me whether it is sold on Sundays or not, I won't be buying it.
It DOES matter to me when people are not free to govern themselves because of what a few think.
Vote for Freedom!
Of course you wouldnt have to actually take the drugs yourself, just make sure it was ok if someone wanted to.
That wouldnt make our roads anymore dangerous would it? ...nah.Evvverybody... must... get... stoned.
[Peoples personal choices do directly correlate. If people make stupid choices then you can't place prohibition on that.]
Well said.
to quote Jack:
[Heres an idea then beth, why dont we follow odies lead and make it ok to take currently illiegal drugs, like cocaine, methamphetamine, stuff like that an all]
Jack, consider this;
According to the groundbreaking 2003 medical report Death by Medicine, by Drs. Gary Null, Carolyn Dean, Martin Feldman, Debora Rasio and Dorothy Smith, 783,936 people in the United States die every year from conventional medicine mistakes. That's the equivalent of six jumbo jet crashes a day for an entire year.

Jack thats 783,936 deaths per year due to legal drugs. Big Pharma kills.
But thats ok with Jack cause its legal.
Prohibition does not work.
Vote for Freedom.....Vote for Sunna Dag Sales

I notice you only brought up cocaine and meth. Why not mention marijuana? Oh that's right because if pot were "legal" the roads WOULD be a safer place! Study after study has been done, and it is no question that driving while "stoned" is FAR less dangerous than driving drunk!
Why would you even bring up "the roads"-it is still, and always should be against the law to drive impaired. Doesn't matter what you are impaired on, you should not be allowed to drive impaired.
Yes, ending the war on drugs would definitely clear up the court backlog, free up the LEOS to investigate some REAL crimes, and end the need for new jail facilities due to overcrowding.
And by the sound of your maniacal postings it wouldn't hurt YOU to roll up a big fat "Tater" and smoke it! It would certainly chill you out some!
Clear up any doubt. It is so, that people can enjoy a drink, a glass of wine, or a beer and still not get drunk. It won't impair judgement, it won't lead to improper behavior, and it won't make fools out of all of us (trust me, you don't need to be drunk to do that).
You are mistaken in your impression. Grow up. See the world.
BETH,BUFFY,ODIN......DROWN IN YOR OWN PUKE AND ROT IN HELL.
Much like your adult diaper Jason...its time for a change.
Vote to support freedom and liberty.
Vote YES for Sunna dag sale of alcohol.
-Wodon
This is a hot button issue and lots of folks got different opinions about it. I stated mine.I think some people are so sensitive and anti christian that anyone going against worldly grain is going to be ridiculed by people like beth, buffy and odin who think they are right and the rest of us are not only wrong but stupid too.
One of the nice things about America is like someone else on here said earlier, we egt to vote on these things and the loosers have to deal with it.Lets get out the vote.
Vote no to Sunday alcohol sales lets keep the Lords Day as it is.and calm down.
Do we need another day for citizens to get bent? do we need to legalize drugs ?
Dont support this attack on families and religion and on our community by danny yearwood and his crew of drunkards.
What should be prohibited and outlawed is you crazy kristians and the houses of evil worship.
Its obvious from the posts on here that these phony churches only teach and preach hate and intolerance.
Between Jack and Jason, I'm surprised they are not calling for witch trials and executions.
Support freedom...Vote for Sunna dag alcohol sales.
-Harrier
So here is the thing. I like to drink. I drink on Sundays. You vote no for Sunday sales I Buy my beer on Saturday and drink on Sunday. You vote yes on Sunday Sales I by my beer on Sunday and drink on Sunday. Either way I enjoy a cold adult drink, voting yes or no only changes when I buy my drinks not when I drink them. This vote will not keep people from drinking and it will not keep stupid people from driving drunk.

its a sad day when we can't keep 1 day set aside as holy, but then again look no further than the White House or even closer to home, at Danny Drunkwood. He loves a cold beer or stiff drink, which might I add Im not against, just not in the public eye if you are an elected official or on Sundays. But hey, thats freedom.. so go vote while we still have that priviledge.
Voters will decide the issue, and that is fair to everyone, without exception!

What is it about a speck in your brother's eye, and the log in yours?
Get your fact correct.
The name is Silence Doogood! Let's dance!
Personally I think all the jibberjabber going back and forth complete with name calling and insults says more about the quality of people in this county than the Blue Law.
