Prescription drugs in Auburn could soon be cheaper for non-insured residents

The city council last week received a recommendation to consider enrolling in the national prescription drug program, which is no cost to the city.

Called the National League of Cities Prescription Discount Card Program, the discount deal is operated by CVS Caremark, and is not an alternative to insurance. A clause is that discounts are only available at any participating pharmacy. Auburn is a member of the National League of Cities.

Benefits to residents without insurance include the coverage of all family members, no enrollment or membership fees, no income requirements, no limit on how many times a membership card can be used and coverage of pet medications that are used to treat human conditions.
