Barrow moving to new Congressional District

Monday night's town hall meeting with Congressman Rob Woodall of the 7th District may be the last time Barrow Countians meet with him as their representative in Washington.

Under a new plan released Monday, the Georgia General Assembly is poised to approve a new Congressional map that puts Barrow County in the 10th Congressional District with Republican Paul Broun of Athens.

If approved, Barrow would be at the extreme Northern edge of Broun's district. The 10th District shifted south in the new map, losing Jackson County and several other Northeast Georgia counties.

The change probably wouldn't affect Barrow very much politically. Broun is considered an extremely conservative member of Congress and his views on national issues would appear to mesh with the conservative views of Barrow County.

Yes, Broun is a "conservative" if you define the term as "outright loon." Yes, he is a good fit for the majority of Barrow county.

The problem with all you nut jobs is that you want to kick the bums out at every election. Finally get a representative that goes to Washington and does not want to break the bank and all you want to do is kick um out.
The liberals over at Athens hate him because he is a conservative...that's good enough reason for me to support him.

Liberal democrat? try again! the first vote I ever cast in my life was in 1976 for Gerald Ford. Sadly, the party has wandered a long way from him by embracing such ridiculed kooks as Broun.

Broun will be cheered in Barrow as if he were the 2nd coming. Remember: this is the county that went for Fake McNasty + Sary Palin & the Wasilly hillbillies in overwhelming numbers.

On the one hand, there is what Paul Broun says he is (a "conservative") and (some) people think he is (usually based on what he claims), and, on the other hand, you have what Paul Broun REALLY is -- a big government/big spender corrupt-style pol, in the pocket of his sponsors.

The two never really connect, do they...?
