If the Georgia House’s new election district map is approved during the upcoming special legislative session that begins Monday, Rep. Tommy Benton of Jefferson will no longer represent Barrow County as of 2013.
Instead, Benton will represent only Jackson County, and Barrow’s population instead will be carved up into three House districts.
Rep. Terry England said Friday that the two new members of the county’s legislative delegation would be Rep. Doug McKillip of Athens and Rep. Len Walker of Loganville, both Republicans. Sen. Frank Ginn will continue to represent all of Barrow in the Georgia Senate, according to a map released Friday.
