About 10 parents of children who attend Barrow County Schools were present at a meeting last week for parental input on the district's proposed plan for how it will spend federal program dollars in the 2012 fiscal year.
The meeting was also held to review the district’s parent involvement plan, which is a requirement that must be fulfilled in order to receive federal funding.
Shannon Hammond, coordinator of federal programs for the district, led the meeting with an overview of federal funding programs available to the school district. Other school representatives included Ken Green, director of student services, Julie Elmore, English Language Learner support specialist, Jo Johnson, coordinator of secondary curriculum and professional learning, Andrea Pender, coordinator of Special Education and Pam McGee, of the Career Technical Agricultural Education department.
