Barrow County officials have scheduled a public hearing at 6 p.m. Tuesday to receive comments from voters about two proposed maps of the election districts of all county voters for the next 10 years.
The Barrow County Board of Elections and elections staff developed two versions of district boundaries, and the Georgia Reapportionment Services Office in Atlanta produced the color maps that are available at several locations and online at www.barrowga.org.
The remapping of election districts occurs every decade in response to population changes documented by the U.S. census.
Barrow County’s population grew by 50 percent in the last decade, requiring a major overhaul of district lines to ensure that voters in each district have equal representation.
The first version of the new countywide map is based on 2010 census tracts and has district boundaries that more closely resemble those on the current election map.

....saving some expense by requiring fewer ballots - Don't we vote electronically? So just exactly how will we be saving money on ballots?
