The Barrow County School System is updating its parent involvement plan requirement for funding on Thursday.
A meeting will be held at 10 a.m. at the Professional Development Center located at 179 West Athens Street in Winder.
Parent involvement is a requirement for funding outlined in the No Child Left Behind Act (2001), also known as the Elementary and Secondary School Act.
Two plans will be reviewed and revised: Title I Parent Involvement Plan and CLIP (Consolidated LEA Implementation Plan). The meeting will allow for parents to review the proposed plans and offer feedback and suggestions.
Anyone interested in participating can contact Penny Sheppard at 770-867-4527 est. 118 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All the System has to do is offer the meeting to the public to qualify for funding. I doubt there will be little turn out for the meeting since it is being held at such a "convenient" time for us working parents to attend.
I agree, most parents work...besides, they do not involve me any other time, like when my kid is failing math or needs help in reading. They just wait til the last day of school and send home his report card, yet I am assured in my emails weeks before that he was doing GREAT....
