The Barrow County Board of Education met in closed session to discuss personnel and real estate acquisition at the Georgia Club in Statham June 30, following a daylong required school board training.
The closed meeting began at 4:05 p.m. in the same meeting room where the board held its training in a private clubhouse off Ga. Hwy. 316 in Statham.
After 25 minutes, the board announced it would take no action on either item of discussion.
Superintendent Wanda Creel said about the closed session: “And as far as personnel, we were trying to look at a finance person, but we weren’t ready to do what we needed to do,” said Creel. “So, we just needed to talk through that.”
Creel added that the school district is still trying to find someone to take assistant superintendent of business services Ken Cato’s position after he retires.
The BOE will hold another called meeting on Tuesday, July 5, at 8 a.m., to discuss the future acquisition of real estate.
